09/09/2026Pet of the Month: November
11/04/2026Did you know that three or more pugs are called a grumble? While this motley crew of misfit toys technically isn’t four pugs, 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗴 (Pug), 𝗥𝗶𝘁𝗮 (Pug), 𝗥𝗼𝘅𝗶𝗲 (Boston Terrier—but we don’t tell her she’s not a pug), and 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗲 (Pekingese, who knows she’s not a pug and don’t you dare call her a hairy pug) make up one honorary grumble. They’re all purebreds and rescues.
𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗴 was rescued in South Korea and arrived in the U.S. at 8 months old as a temporary foster. He had other plans. As soon as he walked through the door, he owned the place and was soon a foster fail. Pugs were companion animals of Chinese emperors, and Doug is convinced he is a reincarnated emperor and everyone else is his subject.
After Doug lost his older bulldog sister, it was time to find him a new sibling. 𝗥𝗶𝘁𝗮, aka Spicy Margarita, came from the same rescue after she and her puppies arrived from Tijuana, Mexico. Now almost 8, she is sassy, bossy, and hasn’t stopped being a puppy. She’ll “AWOOO” for attention but is also every living creature’s best friend. She especially loves babies and toddlers and will lick anyone to death—even upon first meeting—with a tongue that could rival any frog.
𝗥𝗼𝘅𝗶𝗲 the Bostie was rescued at 4 years old after being a puppy mill mama. She arrived completely shut down and scared of her own shadow. It took nearly a year for her to feel safe, and she still struggles with anxiety from her past. She is the sweetest, most loving dog who yearns for attention and affection and leans heavily on her emotional-support Doug. We never let her know she’s “not like the others”—she’s just a pug in a different outfit.
𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗲, the youngest by six years, is a Pekingese rescued from a hoarding situation in Alabama. Pekes were treated as royalty and assigned their own servants in Chinese imperial courts—and they are fully aware of their status. Frankie is an indestructible bunny who launches herself into (and off of) everything she does. She’s also Rita’s partner in crime and has brought endless laughter to the house.
Join us in celebrating this grumble as the Repete Pet of the Month!
