Introducing the Repete Pet of the Month for March: Nugget! 🐱

With his golden coat, love for leash walks and fetch, and the occasional countertop snack theft, Nugget might seem like a Retriever or Lab—but he’s actually a one-year-old Highlander cat!

Highlanders are a newer breed, developed in the United States, known for their with their wide-set curled ears (curling back, not forward like a Scottish Fold) soft coats, and bobbed tails. While their appearance is striking, it’s their personalities that make them so dog-like.

Nugget’s name comes from either his nugget of a tail or his resemblance to a chicken nugget, depending on whom you ask. His golden fur and playful expressions have also earned him comparisons to Simba from The Lion King.

Nugget is intrigued with anything having to do with water, from the icemaker to the washing machine, and especially fish tanks. He is a very muscular boy who can easily jump onto the highest counter or even the mantle above the fireplace. He enjoys (tolerates) going for walks in his booties and jacket, but he really just enjoys being in the middle of things. Nugget is in that “teenager” phase where he is full of energy, and then collapses from exhaustion. He can be found snoring in his favorite cat tree, or in the middle of the kitchen floor, if that’s where he happened to run out of energy.
